Record Office open again!
7th December 2020
The Record Office will reopen on Tuesday 8 December 2020.
Visits will still need to be pre-booked and changes in the search rooms, visitor facilities and the reception area remain in force to ensure that the building continues to be Covid-secure.
Please note that 8th-10th December is reserved for visitors who missed their appointments because of the recent lockdown. We are now taking new bookings for 15th December onwards. We will be closed from 24th December to 4th January (inclusive) so the deadline for bookings for 22nd-23rd December and 5th-7th January will be Thursday 17th December.
Under government guidance it is compulsory to wear face coverings in libraries and public reading rooms unless you have an exemption. The National Archives recommends that archival materials should be quarantined after use for up to 72 hours. This means the availability of our archives and records may vary and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
We will continue to be able to help by telephone or email and we encourage you to use these methods where possible.
We look forward to welcoming you back.
